Sprenger Novocontact Double Jointed Eggbutt snaffle with D-shaped rings is an iconic lorinery masterpiece and its design should be congratulated for its simplicity which using a 16mm thickness the bit widens the contact surface on the tongue, the central lozenge is profiled to minimise pinching due the the reduced link sizes so that the horse has confidence in taking up a contact on the reins communicating with the riders hands.

The eggbutt rings ensure there is no pinching of the horses lips and this is especially useful for horses with big soft lips that fill the sides of the external bit space. As the rider takes up the rein the mouthpiece tilts forward and the contact surfaces meet the contact points of the top of the bars of the horses mouth and the lips while the tongue receives pressure from the lozenge as even more pressure is applied through the riders hand, ensuring more precise and effective communication.
